The Inside Story

Just finished reading The Inside Story, courtesy of a KTEH pledge drive. It was the only thing they were offering that I didn't already own. As far as this sort of thing goes, it's not bad. It does do better than the old Peter Haining books by at least having information you haven't heard twelve times before. And it is not as self-congratulatory as I would have thought. Yes, there is the usual RTD pap but the effects folks do own up to a few things, such as the Slitheen.

The overall impression I am left with is that the production team are a well-intentioned group set out to make television that they'd like to watch. Which is not a bad thing, but it doesn't mean it's necessarily Doctor Who. Fear Her, I'm looking in your direction.

A Beginning

Stolen shamelessly from Behind the Sofa, because it's that good.

Name:
Steven Sautter
Age:
25
Location: Mountain View, California
Occupation: Bookseller
Earliest Dr Who memory:
The Tom Baker opening credits. I couldn't tell you what episode though.
Favourite Doctor Who TV Story of all-time: City of Death or Ghost Light depending on what day it is.
And on the opposite end of the spectrum: Fear Her represents all that is wrong with Doctor Who.
Favourite Doctor: Sylvester McCoy. Not a very popular choice these days, but he's still my fave.
Favourite Companion: Sarah Jane Smith
Favourite Doctor Who Novel: Is it trite to say Human Nature since it's been televised now? Okay, let's go with All-Consuming Fire
Favourite Doctor Who Audio: I haven't listened to any of these in years, but I did like Shadow of the Scourge.
